From Whitlands in the King Valley (560–620m), this Pinot Noir combines clones MV6, 114 and 115 grown in iron-rich, free-draining red soils.
Harvested on 25 March 2022 at 13.5° baumé, it was 100% destemmed and aged 12 months in seasoned French barriques, bottled unfined and unfiltered to showcase the fruit and site with minimal intervention.
“From the Baxendale Vineyard in the Whitlands, King Valley – one of the highest altitude sites at 750m. It leads with ripe strawberries, amaro and a bouquet of pretty native herbs, lemon myrtle and wattle seed with some dried oregano. I enjoy the structure of this wine; the tannins captivate and support, making a steady composition. More bitter orange, a little spun toffee and endearing rusticity set this drink alight.” - Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion
