Handpicked from Kennedy Vineyard in Heathcote, this Syrah (clone 1654 on own roots) was grown in iron-rich Cambrian soil and harvested on 25 March 2021 at 13 baume.
10% whole bunch, the wine was aged for 12 months in seasoned French and Hungarian oak. It was left unfined and unfiltered, with minimal intervention to allow the fruit and site to express themselves.
“Georgia has established herself as a rising star in the world of Aussie sparkling, though I have often admired her intuitive approach with syrah – here from the Kennedy vineyard in Heathcote. Confidently made and expressive with boysenberry, black plum and mixed berry pie filling, the Hungarian oak inclusion offers sweetness and generosity. Mouth-filling and rich, it floods the palate with blue fruits and purple flowers; an opulent wine that speaks well of its place.” - Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion
“Sweet peanut oil characters on pure, plush, cherry-plum fruit, with shimmies of herbs, peppers and florals. Smoky oak, understated, completes a delicious picture, as does fine, minty, smoky tannin. This is a stylish Heathcote shiraz.” - The Wine Front
